Our Vision
Hanzo Archives was founded in 2005 upon a vision to find a solution for the daily rapid disappearance of websites around the world. Brought together by a small group of software entrepreneurs and web archivists, we worked on the belief that archiving the content of the net was a historical, social and cultural necessity. We became increasingly aware that web archives, with their cumulative and long-lived content, were fast becoming the foundation of services and tools for commercial opportunity, business intelligence and legal evidence. We rapidly moved our product development towards creating usable tools to save websites for businesses, publishers and other organisations, and begin the creation of internet memory.
At Hanzo, we recognise that during the normal life-cycle of a corporations’ Total Web Presence, web pages and documents are constantly moved, updated and deleted. From a legal perspective, this is a responsibility of the corporation as a whole, and the corporation has liability for its content and accuracy. Traditional backups of databases and servers are not an option for maintaining accessible web-based information, especially where proprietary content management systems are used, utilising a broad range of technologies and systems, databases, schemata and templates that inevitably evolve and are costly to maintain beyond their period of active use.
A sustained commitment to R&D and product development has enabled us to deliver on this vision. Our unique enterprise web archiving products and services are the most effective means of creating and maintaining a stable, time-structured,verifiably authentic and technology-independent version of even the most complex and media-rich websites, suitable for compliance and legal e-discovery purposes.
