Hanzo Archives was founded by leading experts in web archiving, with many years experience. We have recruited and trained an extraordinary team of talented people, who are responsible for the most advanced web archiving technology anywhere.

Mark Middleton CEO

Mark is a tech entrepreneur with over a decade leading software startups. Mark began archiving the web when he led the British Library web archiving programme in 2004-2006. Before that he was CTO of several startups in content management (Zuno) and e-learning (Wide Learning) as well CEO of his own “rent-a-CTO” consultancy (E-People) during the late 90’s and early 00’s. Prior to that he enjoyed an international blue-chip experience in Japan and UK (Mitsubishi Electric).

Mark Williamson CTO

The other Mark is a software engineer with over 20 years of experience building commercial software. He wrote one of the first programming editors for Windows in the early 90’s, developed AI & educational packages for the Electric Brain Company, and a telemetry system for Williams Formula One. Until December 2005, Mark worked in the British Library web archiving programme, implementing web crawlers, web archive access tools, and generally building the Library’s expertise as part of various web archiving consortia.

Kevin Gibson Chairman

Kevin is an experienced senior executive, working in UK, Silicon Valley and Australia. Other interests include: a privately held commercial property company, Ebooks Corporation, an Australia-based world leader in digital book technology, where he is a leading shareholder and Chairman, Jiva Technology, building social web applications, and Business Fitness, a provider of systems and services to the Australian accounting industry.
