If you have a del.icio.us
account, you can use Hanzo’s feed archiving
tool to capture your bookmarks and archive them. Ditto, of course, for a wide range of other bookmarking tools, provided they generate a feed. This means you can use del.icio.us and many of its cool tools and plug-ins as your Hanzoweb collection tool. Assuming you have an account on del.icio.us already, here’s a few examples.

Collecting bookmarks via del.icio.us - the basics
Before collecting your del.icio.us bookmarks by archiving the feed
, first decide if you want to collect all your del.icio.us bookmarks or just those marked by a key tag.
- To collect all of your bookmarks, simply archive the feed for your del.icio.us account page: browse to your del.icio.us homepage, click Hanzo’s Collect This bookmarklet and archive the RSS feed for your account’s feed.
- To collect a subset of your bookmarks using a specific key tag, say you use the tag “archivethis”, then browse to your del.icio.us homepage, click on the tag “archivethis”, click Hanzo’s Collect This bookmarklet and archive the RSS feed for all your bookmarks tagged with “archivethis”.
In each case, Hanzoweb will then collect the bookmarks as they appear on the del.icio.us feed, together with tags and comments. You are now archiving in Hanzoweb using del.icio.us. Now you can use one of many del.icio.us browser plug-ins, desktop apps and buttons, and archive with style.
Collecting bookmarks via del.icio.us - with style
There are a huge number of del.icio.us plugins. Three of my favourites are:
del.icio.us Bookmarks Firefox Extension
In Firefox, install the del.icio.us Bookmarks Firefox Extension
and set it up with your del.icio.us account credentials.Once installed, use the “Bookmark this page” button on the del.icio.us toolbar to bookmark stuff - the panel allows you to tag stuff and add a description. Its a great tool, and takes advantage of many advanced del.icio.us features, such as recommended tags, auto-complete, network tags and popular tags. If you haven’t installed this before, take a little time to play with it and organise your toolbars by del.icio.us tag, it’s worth the effort.Back to Hanzo, because you’re archiving your del.icio.us feed, all your del.icio.us bookmarks, together with tags and description text are collected. For a more extreme tagging experience, try this
.
Flock
Flock
’s Star favorites can be set to synchronise with your del.icio.us or Shadows account. Using the built-in Star favourites of Flock, you have a rich integrated UI for bookmarking and tagging, with tag suggestions, all submitted to del.icio.us.As with any del.icio.us tool, the result is you’re archiving in Flock.
Pukka - a Mac OS X Cocoa app
On Mac OS X there are a number of del.icio.us Cocoa apps, Pukka
is by far the cutest. Download and install, add the Pukka bookmarklet to Safari, tell Pukka about your del.icio.us account and then you can bookmark with Pukka, tagging, tag completion, etc., all posted to your del.icio.us account via the API.You’re archiving from a Cocoa app.You could also try Cocoalicious
.Here’s a long list of del.icio.us tools
